The short: 4/5 ✦. It’s Patrick Ness. ‘Nuff said.
The long:
Okay, apologies for the sass up there, but surprising no one, this book is phenomenal. I have yet to read a Ness book that I didn’t like, and I hope that dark day never comes.
That being said, I have nothing else to say.
Alright, alright, actually I have many thoughts and feels, but I try to keep my reviews as spoiler-free as possible, and even if I tagged this whole thing, I don’t even want to put that temptation out there, because it’s really best to go into this book with as little foreknowledge as possible.
I had no idea what to expect from this novel when I first began reading; the blurb is incredibly intriguing but (fortunately) just vague enough to not reveal any . . . well, spoilers.
The first part of the story seems to be one thing, and then it’s kind of another, and then it’s a different thing entirely, and by the time you get to the end, it might be any of those things but also something else. Make sense? (And the only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I felt there ought to have been MORE.)
(Think WALL-E plus The Matrix with excellent YA characters, and you’ve got a brief glimpse of what this book is. Or isn’t?)
Trust me, if you’re considering reading this, just do it. You won’t be disappointed.

[…] Slight caveat, here, it wasn’t so much the cover as whose NAME was on it. (I love me some Patrick Ness.) Review here! […]
