The short: 4/5 ✦. All right, folks, you know how this goes. It’s a Wimpy Kid book! THEY’RE HILARIOUS.
To be truly fair, this Diary of a Wimpy Kid wasn’t the most hilarious of the whole series. (I think that designation goes to The Long Haul.)
But they still have the pig! Just like in Gravity Falls, you think that there’s no way this pig can still be hanging around, but no, it’s still there, torturing Greg with its uncanny intelligence and startling ability to open doors. Unlike in Gravity Falls, though, this pig is not Waddles because it doesn’t seem to even have a name.
I think the part in Double Down I did legit laugh out loud at was the Halloween witch decoration that still cackled after the batteries had been removed. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY. We had this Christmas ice-skating Minnie doll that I suppose was motion activated, and she would say, “I just love to ice skate!” and music would play. Sure, sure, that’s cute, but it would go off all the time, even when it was stored in the garage with no one around. Eventually, we got so freaked out, I went and took out the batteries, just like Greg’s dad did.
BUT IT STILL SANG.
I think we threw it away when we moved. And good riddance.
In any case, if you’ve read these slice-of-life books before, you know there’s not much a plot to speak of or to spoil, so please enjoy this small collection of laughing gifs. Thank you.
